"Summer Heat" was another fantastic show from Celtic Wrestling, with all three championships changing hands and top action from all participants.
The opening six man elimination encounter was full of high flying moves and wrestling ability with the crowd in attendance eating it up, and after Lightning Kid, Sammy Boy Collins, 'Gentleman' Gilligan Gordon and Sebastian Star had beenn eliminated, it was left to Mike Bird and Eddie Lizzard to pick up the win. There were many near falls between the two, which kept the crowd guessing to the end, but finally Mike Bird was victorious.
Tyler Browne came out to the ring afterwards and launched a verbal tirade against the Board Of Directors, due to the fact that he wasn't involved in the night's action. However, Derice Coffie suddenly appeared and coaxed Browne into teaming with him in challenging Method And Madness for the tag team championship. Tyler accepted the offer, but made it clear that although he had agreed to be Derice's partner for the evening, it didn't mean that he had to like him.
The Gangster versus Hubert was another entertaining match, with the smaller Hubert putting up a very good fight against his larger opponent and registering a number of near falls, but The Gangster eventually pinned him by grabbing the middle rope out of the referee's vision.
Kade Callous then entered the arena to a chorus of jeers, and proceeded to powerbomb the exhausted Hubert who was still in the ring, followed by a pre-match tirade in which he stated how easily he would dominate Chris Recall in turn. Recall entered the arena following this, and the two of them put on a captivating display of utter brutality, during which Recall suffered a cut to the head. Two superkicks weren't enough to keep Callous down for the ten-count, however, and the Black Country monster finished off Recall with a devastating Callousline off the ring apron, knocking his opponent senseless enough for him to reclaim the Interactive Championship.
Dave Moralez and T-Bone squared off next in a match to determine the new number one contender for Callous's newly won title. The two combatants fought tooth and nail against each other, excuting high impact manoeuvres which included a thundering superplex, spinebusters and clotheslines, and a number of near falls were registered, but it was T-Bone who finally got the duke with his patented top rope splash.
The 'comedy mixed with wrestling' attraction happened after the interval, as Mad Man Manson took on Steven Bassey. During the match, Manson pulled off various comedic pranks, such as tying up the referee in his straitjacket and stealing the official's striped shirt, attemping to entice him into pinning Bassey. However, Bassey in turn came back with illegal holds against the ropes and two reversed chinlocks on the Irishman, but even this wasn't enough to stop Manson who finally registered the successful pinfall.
Jonathan James proceeded to come out to ringside afterwards, launching one of his patented verbal tirades against the audience in which he berated them for cheering Deathrow. Steven Bassey had decided to remain in the ring after his defeat, and was naturally in agreement with James regarding everything he said. James then proceeded to viciously attack Manson with his golf club, and Bassey helped by laying in some cheap shots. It was then that Deathrow entered the arena and took in the respect of the ringsiders, after which he entered the ring to confront both James and Bassey. Bassey quickly exited to avoid this, leaving James to seemingly suffer a chokeslam from the masked behemoth. Jonathan somehow managed to escape the devastation, and as Deathrow begin to stalk him out of the arena, he screamed back at the masked monster, "what the hell is wrong with you?".
The tag team championship was on the line next, and although they were reluctant partners, Derice Coffie and Tyler Browne initially proved their worth against Method And Madness. Unfortunately, dissention showed when Tyler refused to tag Derice, allowing Scouse and Ham to take the upper hand for a while. Another attempt at a tag was avoided by Browne, and it appeared that the champs would be victorious in a three-on-on handicap encounter, but Tyler finally realised the importance of what was at stake, and after tagging Derice, the Cardiff went on a tirade against Scouse and Ham. Hard clotheslines and whips floored the three-time champions, and following a small discussion with Coffie, Browne hit his patented Dominator on Scouse for the victory.
The main event was then announced, and Steven Bassey accompanied his brother 'The One Man Riot' Thomas Bassey to the ring. In a shocking turn of events, Steven revealed to the audience that he was the new Managing Director of Celtic Wrestling, and things would now be run how he wanted and when he wanted. All of a sudden, C/W head trainer Jason Cross appeared at ringside, which Steven immediately took exception to, and once Jason had entered the ring, a verbal exchange
occurred between the two. Steven made a challenge to Jason, suggesting a match at "Celtic Carnage" with his Managing Director title on the line. Jason retorted that the audience shouldn't have to wait until then, and seconds later he had pinned Steven to officially become the new MD.
Thomas Bassey then made his way to the arena entrance, and lay in wait for the champion Caiman. The instant that the Crocodillian Psycho entered the arena, he was hit with Bassey's patented spear, whereby The One Man Riot proceeded to dish out some initial heavy punishment. The momentum was soon reversed by Caiman, and the champion and challenger battled throughout the arena for a
number of minutes before taking the brutal action into the ring. Caiman looked well on his way to successfully defending the title before Kade Callous came out to ringside, with the Midlands monster taking it upon himself to beat down the Croc man. Suddenly, Chris Recall ran out and attacked Callous, which resulted in the new and former Interactive champions fighting back to the locker room. Unfortunately, Recall's attempt to help his longtime friend and partner wasn't enough on this occasion, for a badly beaten Caiman was easy picking for Bassey, who defeated the Crocodillion Psycho with a huge top rope splash to become the brand new heavyweight champion. Steven Bassey then grabbed the microphone and officially announced his brother as the champion, and as a group of wrestlers came out to assist Caiman back to the locker room, the younger Bassey brother coldly challenged one present individual on behalf of the new champ with these words : "Chris Recall, you're next!".
In light of these events, it will be interesting to see the aftermath at "Celtic Carnage", which
will be held at Aberfan Social Club on August 27th.
